Arrrhhh...Paper Jam..!!

The paper used for flash card we got last sunday is too thick for our printer. Our printer LS355 Epson having problem feeding the paper into the printer. I only managed to print less than 20 pieces after making some adjustment to the paper like bending and folding slightly to allow the printer to feed.
paper stuck- see the marking on the paper. thats the jam mark.

The remaining flash cards will be printer on a A4 80gm paper then we will have to stick it on the 270gm paper. No choice have to do this way.

A4 flash card need to be thicker ( recommended 270gm and above ) so that it will be easy to Flash.

Last time we use an exbel satin paper 250gm printed on A5 using our epson printer - no problem. So i would recommend you to use the 250gm for all A5's Flash cards

In a NUTSHELL, 270gm is NOT recommended for printing. Im not sure if your printer can print. if you want to try you have take a sample from us and try with your printer.

sample can contact us at sppurna@gmail.com (Mr. Purna) or my wife jia ming (lemonade_chin@hotmail.com)

send us your feedback ya..

Card Stock For Flash Card DIY

This weekend we went shopping for card stock apparently to make flash card for the 63 dots and the Mathematics learning cards (the one by Glen Doman). Since it was going to be in A4 size, we decided to get somewhat thicker so that flashing card would be easier.

we went to the usual place we went to get our card stock. The best to get it is in brickfields at Jalan sultan Abdul Samad. There is a whole street of stores selling printing cards, papers and binding.
we went to this specific ones we used to go, its called PAPER STATION SDN. BHD.
The good thing about this pace is that they have lots of sample to choose from to suit you printing needs.
PAPER STATION SDN. BHD. AT BRICKFIELDS

here are some sample we got below:

they got the exotic which which is 280gm. This may be too thick for your printer to print so i skip this. im using Epson L355 inktank which is one of the best in term of ink cost and can print up to 270gm.

I go for the  exbel satin which is 270gm. You got to buy 1 rim which is in the form form of 9 nos of A4. There are 100 pcs in a rim. You need to send this to the cutter to cut it into A4. the cutter shop is very close just 2 shops away.

The shop is called Mathanna enterprise. The boss there is so friendly and i get to cut it in just less than RM5. Last time i also get them to cut for us 10rim of A4 into A5.

They did a good job cutting a perfect cut and gave me a very tidy packaging

i would recommend to all mommy and daddy who are hard working and eager to get card stock to go to this shop and i bet you will be happy with the price and service.

good luck and good try..

Block Games with Preschooler

Another block games that caught AR interest is playing balancing by using blocks. I'm not good in describe it but let the pictures explains it.  The balancing idea came from daddy.  AR was having fun by using different shapes of the blocks to balance each other.  Have fun in balancing!

Wooden Blocks Games with Preschooler

Recently AR into wooden blocks games and is one of our activities during my confinement.  There are 54 wooden blocks. We use it to play stacking blocks game,  built for domino effect and others.

We also arranged the blocks in different arrangements to test the effectiveness of the domino effect. One of the picture showed that one we arranged the blocks closely, another one we arranged the blocks with little bit gap,  later on we arranged with bigger gap.  And the arrangements of blocks must be long enough to see the differences.

It was fun that you can play and do experiment the same time.  Have fun everyone!

Right Brain Home Practice Preparation

Almost few month didn't really practice with AR. We have been sending him to Shichida since one year ago, I'm feeling guilty that didn't do home practice with him such a long time. Making new flashcards every weeks really killing me since I need to do cooking and household chores and ... at the same time prepare materials for AR... I rather said not enough rest than not enough time, so I took some time off meaning not pushing myself making materials or searching new materials... Of course, household chores still a must, cannot run away.  Giving myself a break, just do what i want to do when i feel like it. Never set a time for myself to complete a task.

After a long break, I finally came up with an idea for right brain home practice. I prepared 5 paper file folders like I showed in the picture later. Initially I bought plastic file folder but it didn't fit in the materials. Oh... Lucky I have some paper file folders with me ( I use paper file folder for AR lapbooks). Why I need five? It is for Monday till Friday only, so I no need to crack my head and change everyday. I just need to change materials every Sunday night.

The materials that I put for each folder:
  1. eye training, I make 5 different pattern and laminated it.
  2. photographic memory including instant memory, random memory and space memory.

The materials in the folder can be rotate and use for a month than only change new materials so that the children won't get bored easily. Flashcards always inside a container and if I make new one will just slot in the new one and take out the old theme. Will share with you all more details in next post.

Have a good day!
