26 months Boy Loves Bowling

My son AR starts to love bowling after watching a bowling game at a shopping mall during the Chinese New Year. That time he was only 14 month old. After this event, he would watch the clips from Youtube on family who has 5 children playing bowling. We were surprised it caught his attention and straight away he fell in love with bowling.

Till today (1 year later), he still play bowling in the house everyday without miss. he would play several games in the morning followed by watching youtube on bowling games and one more in the eveing after his daddy comes home. He would also request for several games during the night before his reading session.

we had a simple self made bowling alley, pins and bowling ball from regular ball which he love very much. as he is still very young and could not lift a real bowling, this would be his passion and trainning ground before hitting at the real bowl.

he would also take the opportunity to try bowling at the entertainment centre where you can simple buy token and play. He have such strong passion in bowling, he plays bowling everyday, date and night... never ever said he is tired or bored. He would choose watching or play just bowling if given a choice from other better or more interesting game.

I don't know anything about bowling but my husband played before at the bowling alley. We brought AR to bowling alley once or twice and he really enjoyed despite the bowling ball was still too heavy for him. I know bringing a 26 months old boy to play in the bowling alley sound silly. But if you were there to watched him play with his daddy, you will definitely notice his passion.

At home, we improvise empty Yakult bottle as his bowling pins and regular ball as bowling ball. Of course, before we start playing bowling I had to do some research on bowling and also printed on flash cards for him to learn about bowling. While he plays bowling, I will explain to him what is "STRIKE", "SPARE" term in bowling. At the same time, I count the pins together with him whenever he hits the pins, how many pins hits and how many still standing. It is one of the way to introduce math concept since total of the pins is ten. Playing while learning.

Now at his age of  31 months old, he can already know most of the bowling jargon such as "strike", "spare" "triple strike" and can even explain to his daddy the correct way to hold the bowling ball and throwing it. We had bought him a bowling set from " Toys R Us " which the bowling balls have 3 holes similar to the real bowling ball. Anyway he still prefer the Yakult pins that I make for him. Mm.... Handmade is still the best I guess. Now he also likes to play the game machine bowling, as it is much more easier compare to the bowling alley bowling. The ball is lighter a lot and he likes it because he can play by himself. At bowling alley, he needs our help to carry the ball and throw together which he prefer to play by himself.

Most of the time I will video him playing I rarely had the chance to take his picture. If yes the picture will be blur. Haha, I'm not a really good photographer but just for his memory review in the future.

Who is the Maid in the house?

We have been reading the "Little Princess" story book with my son ( 31 months old now) since we bought it from the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale early this year. We didn't expect him to love it so much. Initially, he didn't like reading it so much and don't want to finish the whole book. It started with flipping a few pages. After a few weeks, he begun to finish and now he is asking to read it over and over again.

"The Little Princess" in the story potrays a life of a young girl around the age of 5-6 years old. The little princess live in the castle. They are many characters from the Little Princess, the Queen, the King, the maid, the General, the Admiral, the Prime Minister, the Gardener, Puss the cat, Scruff the dog and her lovey, Gilbert.
i somehow found the story are meaningful as it tells the story of what is happening to a child at this age which is what my son is going thru. My son love it because he is going the same experience as the little princess. For example; the story tells about " i don't want to switch off the lights", " i want my mun", " i want a party" and much much more. this have some similarity to what my son's been asking and this soothes him very much after listening to the story.

We read it almost everyday before putting him to sleep. There was one night when we were reading the story and i started to improvise a little and this is what happen:

Daddy asked the son,"who is the Little Prince in our house?"
"I'm the Little Prince." said my son.
"who is the Queen in the house?" asked the daddy again.
"Mummy!!" answered by my son.
"who is the King in the house?' asked the daddy.
"Daddy!!"
Then the tricky question came ......
"who is the MAID in our house?"
"MUMMY!!!!!" he answered

I was like WHAT in my mind. Being a stay at home mommy with burden of household chores and taking care a toddler, I suddenly become a MAID for him. Oh, dear boy.

we all burst into laughter after hearing what he said. Dear boy, mummy love you so much even though I'm become maid sometime.

After few weeks, daddy asked him again the same question,
"Who is the MAID in the house?"
"nobody."

OHHHHH, "nobody" these was the answer from my son. Thanks dear, love you so much. He did know that mummy not only the MAID in the house but also the person who love him so much.
